College was always overwhelming for me. No matter how hard I tried to stay organized, deadlines would slip through the cracks, and I constantly felt like I was playing catch-up. I wasn’t a bad student—I just never felt like I had full control over my schedule.
Last spring, one of my fraternity brothers introduced me to a new website he created that automatically organized all my due dates for me. At first, I was skeptical—I'd tried planners, calendar apps, and to-do lists before, and nothing ever stuck. But this was different. Everything was laid out clearly, and I didn’t have to waste time manually inputting assignments.
For the first time, I wasn’t scrambling at the last minute or feeling like I was forgetting something. I had a plan, and I stuck to it. The result? My first-ever 4.0.
But the best part wasn’t just the grades. With all the extra time and mental energy I gained, I was able to focus on things that really mattered. I helped organize USC’s first annual walk-a-thon for suicide prevention, and we raised over $27,000.
If I had UpAhead as a freshman, who knows how much earlier I could have hit my full potential? It’s not just about academics—it’s about giving yourself the freedom to make the most of college.
